7 Reasons To Eat Bee Pollen

by Florentina on February 6, 2011

Sunday morning, as I was opening the pantry door and reached for my jar of bee pollen it dawned on: OMG !  I never shared with you one of my little daily routines of having a little pollen and why I do it.  So here I am dishing it out.

Bee Pollen is called Nature’s Perfect Food for many reasons, it is filled with vitamins, enzymes, minerals and has more amino acids than eggs, beef and cheese – really good news especially if you are on a vegetarian diet. I keep a jar of those beautiful seeds in my pantry at all times and eat one teaspoon of them every day.

Many people take daily vitamins and supplements, I take bee pollen and I think you should too.

Here are 7 reasons why I eat bee pollen and you should too:

1. Bee Pollen is almost 40% protein.

2. Eating bee pollen increases your stamina and energy levels.

3. Bee Pollen contains all the nutrients needed to sustain life.

4. Bee pollen has antibiotic properties that help prevent colds and the flu.

5. Bee Pollen is a wonderful natural remedy for allergies.

6. Bee Pollen is an amazing all natural skin rejuvenator because of its high concentration of RNA and DNA nucleic acids.

7. Bee Pollen prevents acne and premature aging of the cells.

It has a natural sweetness, a little bit of crunch, I can’t really explain it because it’s like nothing else I’ve tasted before.

Whenever I go home to Serbia, I get some from my Dad’s friends who is a beekeeper. But I have not had it in a while. Thanks for reminding me :)
Nice photo, BTW:)

Bee pollen eh?

There’s something I have yet to try. I’ve been choking down 3 TBSP of hemp seeds every day but I would venture to guess that bee pollen is a bit tastier. Do you eat it off the spoon or do you incorporate it into dishes too? I’m quite intrigued!

Hey Cassie! I just eat it with a spoon and I also take 1 tsp of bee Propolis blended with honey, you really need to try them both. As a matter of fact the pollen I have right now came from Canada :)

I can’t believe I totally forgot about Bee Pollen! It used to be the hottest thing in health food back in the 70s and 80s, now it’s sort of “passe”. Will definitely try taking this again :)

Hi!
I’ve been eating pollen for a while now and Jeez! do I feel incredible. Looking for more literature on the matter I found out that because of our digestive system we can only absorb 30% of the pollen we eat. In order to get most of the 100% it is better to mix pollen with propolis and honey as well. Apparently this mix called beebread is good to protect the pollen particles so it can get through the intestine without getting almost destroyed by the gastric juice and whatnots. And also propolis have lots of nutrients and prevents flu symptoms as well. Hope this info helps!

Thanks Laura, that’s fantastic info, I didn’t know that but I can also say I feel fantastic since taking pollen and also propolis in honey.

Good to know there’s someone else out there who believes in the power of bee pollen, and not just websites hawking the product. I’ve been taking bee pollen every day for a week and it’s been helping with my chronic fatigue.

How I take it is I warm up a nice mug of vanilla soy or almond milk, stir in two tablespoons of debittered brewers yeast, a tablespoon of bee pollen and a touch of honey for sweetness. The brewers yeast also helps with vitamins and energy.

Tastes good and has left me feeling generally uplifted and more energy consistently rather than the highs and crashes that caffeine can bring.

Great post! :)
