Dear Martha Stewart,
I believe by now we have all received your condescending message; some bloggers took offense to it and for good reason; personally I see a bigger picture: one of desperation for the Martha Stewart Empire to get as much attention from the media as possible before crumbling away like a shortbread cookie.
Quote “Who are these bloggers? They’re not trained editors at Vogue magazine. I mean there are bloggers writing recipes that aren’t tested, that aren’t necessarily very good, or are copies of everything that really good editors have created and done. So bloggers create a kind of popularity, but they are not the experts. And we have to understand that.”
Where do I even start to argue your ignorant statements ..?!
First things first: You are correct, I am not an editor at Vogue -most of us aren’t, but we actually are editors of our own Blogs which we diligently run on Passion and Caffeine; while holding real full time jobs or building bussineses and raising a family.
I wonder.. when was the last time Martha Stewart rushed to the grocery store after a 10 hour work day and still made it home on time to throw together a healthy fresh meal for her family that would blow any of your Vogue’s editor taste buds away ..?! And still make time to blog abut it and inspire an entire community to do the same !
Or when was the last time you actually created a recipe on your own, or updated your own blog ? You really mean to tell me that the food bloggers recipes are ” copies of everything that really good editors have created and done “ ? Hmm….You mean much like your one of a kind original recipe for Spaghetti Carbonara ??
Was this your own personal creation or one that your highly trained editors have created and done ?! Believe it or not there is a cookbook called ” Italian Food by Elizabeth David ” published in Great Britain in 1954, yes 1954 that included the recipe for Pasta Alla Carbonara.
I tell you -The Audacity !
In conclusion Dear Martha you are correct: I am not a trained editor at Vogue but I am not a convicted Felon either. I am an Artist much like a painter or an actor perfecting my craft with every single recipe I create or recreate, something you would know nothing about since you have an entire team of people who do EVERYTHING for you just to slap your name on.
I‘ve never looked at you as an Inspiration, however I do see you as an intelligent business mind, a great brand that unfortunately will suffer because of your dismissive comments to bloggers all around the world.
You should have known better Dear Martha ! This is not a good business strategy and you are all about business (nothing wrong with that btw); biting the hand that feeds you is never a good idea.
