Healthy, tasty and nutritious, the Goddess Poke Bowl recipe is one you will find yourself making all summer long and dream of it during the winter months.
Why Goddess ? Well because strawberry salsa all over the top, and a pretty sprinkle of organic poppy seeds, and pure protein and super beautiful ! Plus all the good Goddess stuff happening in one bowl. Magical !
My first introduction to poke was on the island of Kauai Hawaii, where you can pretty much order it in any surf shack and take it to go on the beach, savoring every single bite while listening to the waves crash into the shore. Oh, the life, I tell you..
So what is Poke ? Besides insanely delicious, poke is a raw salad of chunks of tuna lightly coated in a soy sauce dressing. I like to think of my Poke bowl recipe as the Hawaiian version of ceviche, still, totally different and holds its own with a very different flavor profile.
Traditionally poke is made with tuna, but in my Goddess Poke Bowl Recipe I used Marlin. Because the BatMan caught it of course, and there is no way I can buy anything better at the market than that wild caught fresh belly meat. Also, I am convinced that Marlin has to be the tastiest fish in the ocean, meaty and clean, there is absolutely nothing fishy about a Marlin, I hope that makes sense, since I am talking about fish and all..
The downside is that you most likely won’t be able to find Marlin steaks at the grocery store. I don’t think I have ever seen Marlin at the fish counter ever. Have you ?
But, don’t you be sad about it kids, because you can get some pretty wonderful wild caught tuna steaks, and those are just perfect for this Goddess Poke Bowl recipe.
My first version of the poke bowl was actually made with wild tuna steaks I got at the fish counter, and because it was such a hit, I made it to share with you on the blog using the Marlin steaks we brought home from Cabo. Did I tell you that I’ve been feeding the Batman Goddess Poke Bowls for 3 days in a row ? teeheehee
So super good tough, and the best part, you don’t even need to cook a thing. Unless you insist on making rice, in which case come back tomorrow because I have this mango cilantro rice to die for waiting to get its 15 minutes of fame on the blog. Haha, not even sure what that means, but its good stuff you guys.
