Yes, I do. I found out that I actually can cook last fall during my first year of college. My mom wasn't there to cook for me so I had to learn lol. It's pretty much just following directions which I have been doing all my life anyways lol.

personally I think moving the chat to a slightly later time would be perfect!

i think time conflicts are one issue. but if you'd like more participation in the chat room, perhaps a small incentive could spark more individuals to chat? just my 2 cents. :-)

Profile Information

About Me:
Ciao everyone!

This is Florentina, or the “Woman of Florence” …

It is my name where I probably got my love for the charm of the countryside, the peasants and their food.

Born in the former eastern Roman Empire and today’s Romania ( Transylvania ), I started playing with food very early in life.

My passion for all things food though only started kicking in about 5 years ago, after my grandfather’s passing. I still remember him stirring the polenta for over one hour with a large wooden stick then dumping it all out on the wooden table and slicing it with a string. After it rained he would put on my rubber boots, plop me on the back seat of his old rusty bike and peddle away with me to the fields where we would sneak between bushes and thorns to gather mushrooms. I only loved his mushrooms though, the way he made them, sauted in olive oil with onions and salt. To this day it is my favorite way of eating them, on bruschetta or fresh bread.

There was always hard work in the peasant’s life, poverty & sorrow but balanced by so much beauty and love.

I couldn’t think of a better meal than freshly baked crusty bread, olive oil and freshly picked ugly tomatoes sprinkled with love. And that’s a good life, that’s what this blog is all about, bringing people together and celebrating life around simple home cooked meals, sprinkled with love and surrounded by laughter. I can’t follow a recipe and wasn’t able to attend any pricey culinary schools, I got to stay home and cook instead, studied every cookbook and culinary theory I could get my hands on, which technically makes me an expert.

“Ciao Florentina” is where I share my passion for cooking with the world, it is a journal of a simple life filled with joy and laughter and sinfully delicious recipes. I hope you’ll enjoy your time around here, grab a cup of coffee, put your feet up and stay a while.

“We get around to sparring about all that counts in life but we usually do it while we’re talking about food, it being a subject inseparable from every other subject. It’s the table and the bed that count in life. And everything else we do, we do so we can get back to the table, back to the bed.”

Cool Fact:
Romania is an oasis of Latinity in eastern Europe and the romanian language is the second closest language to Latin (the first being Italian) still spoken today. The lexical and grammatical similarities between Romanian, Italian and Latin are well above seventy percent.
