It is time you guys, time to meet our fur baby Nala Colochita or the curly the one. Finally, I captured a few shots that aren’t just a blurr of black hair in your face. She’s the fastest little booger ever. As wably as she still is , my little gazelle can outrun both Peluci and Tesla if given the chance. True story !
So let me tell you again: Love Is Everything you guys. Go adopt yourself a little furry friend, love them, treat them well and your life will be changed for ever. If I could, I would adopt them all and build the coolest doggy Disneyland ever ! Anyone wants to sponsor that project ? Because I am committed ! And you know baby Nala, Peluci and Tesla would be game too!
Yes the rumors are true. I love dogs more than I love cooking, and many other things. Adopting Lucky Peluci from a high kill shelter where he was quarantined waiting his turn, was the first best decision of my life.
I promised him then that no matter what, it was him and I against the world, and I would never give up on him ever, even if that meant the two of us living in a cardboard box on the beach in Santa Barbara. Thankfully that was not the case, but I believe it is important to have that commitment from the start regardless.
So now we have our gorgeous girl Tesla who took upon the role of protective mama, the rascal mohawk rocking Peluci, and sweet, loving but still kind of shy baby Nala.
We haven’t really considered nor discussed adopting another dog. Deep down I knew it was most likely going to happen again at some point in time, but really we had no plans. But my lovely neighbor shared baby Nala’s photo on Facebook, and before you know it we decided we had to bring her home, that she belonged to our family. Something about those shiny eyes …
We are still working through her fears and issues that she has clearly been subjected to in her short little life on Planet Earth so far, but you know what I say: Love Is Everything and it all works out perfectly fine in the end. And really, who minds cleaning up a little puppy pee now and then, definitely not the Batman 😛
Taking a photo of this little jet black fur ball is close to impossible. First of, you must make sure her black eyes are open so you can catch a little sparkle, otherwise we aren’t quite sure where the head is or the tail teeheehee. She is constantly on the move, copying everything Peluci and Tesla are up to, she just wants to be part of the pack so bad. To see her snuggle up next to my 132 Lb Tesla just a few days in, is more than amazing and melts my heart like a popsicle in the California sun.
Let me tell you that baby Nala Colochita has the most beautiful long lashes you have ever seen; and the silkiest long hair maltipoo coat. Just not fair to other dog breeds out there. She also has a snag tooth and a crooked one on the bottom, which makes her even more special to us, tough it might have been the deal breaker for the people who turned her in. We don’t really know for sure, we are just thrilled to have her as our baby Nala and we love her so.
And you know what ? As we were thinking of giving her a birthday of her own, I saw on the paperwork she came with, that her birthday was November 21st, which happens to be my Grandmother’s Eva birthday as well. Isn’t that something ? She just turned 91 years old as baby Nala just came into our life and turned 1-year-old. We decided to keep that date after all 😉
Favorite activities so far include lots of snuggles, this fur ball literally throws herself at you and holds you with her hooked paws like a toddler. She also crawls like a baby, which kind of concerns me because both Peluci and Tesla have started imitating this behavior. Yeah, I have a 133 lb crawler under the roof as well. Can you imagine ? teeheehee
And then there is napping on daddy’s pillow and hanging out in mommy’s purse. It’s a girl thing 😉
Probably the most favorite activity is embarrassing Peluci on walks, jumping on him, biting his ear and slapping his cool dude mohawk. You know, kind of like the shy girl with the braces in high school with a major crush on the quarterback. He loves it but just can’t show it yet, that is what is going on at the moment, mama’s got her hands full !
P.S. This week has been packed with more than just fluffy ricotta meatballs, the “ Lucky Peluci Project “ was also born. Last week was the Blanket Project, where we made fleece blankets for all the dogs and cats at the largest NoKill shelter in So Cal. We have an official page going up soon, but I really want to thank all of you who send it $1 or $50 to be part of this project. You guys are amazing and thanks to you every doggy will have a much-needed warm blanket during the colder months. What a difference $1 makes !
P.P.S. So tell me all about your fur baby in the comments below. I know you want to rave, and I, out of all people I get it ! I want to know everything, his/her name, what food you feed them, and all the shenanigans going on 😉
