There’s a man I miss more than anything in the world, a man I think of all the time, especially when I work on this website… The man who taught me almost everything I know about food, cooking and most importantly passion. Passion to live, passion to breathe life and love, passion for my dreams.
It was him that showed me how to plant my first little garden and catch my first fish. We spent countless hours under the shade of the cherry tree telling fantastical stories until one little fish would bite. I remember staring at the floating yellow lilies and being mesmerized by the salmon families swimming past my little feet dangling in the water… It seemed like time would never end and It would always be that simple…
But I eventually grew up, became a woman, took chances, chased dreams, made mistakes, dealt with heartache and disappointment- but somehow in the darkest hour I found my way back in time under that cherry tree to find hope and passion.
The hope that everything is going to work out just fine and the passion to start this blog and share a piece of my soul with the world. The passion to give it my all when others told me it was a waste of time. And by following that passion I found myself.
It all started with that man who was my grandfather, the one who made me his priority and invested in me the greatest commodity around: Time !
Today I wish that he was around for one more day… I wish that we were fishing for salmon and eating bruschetta under that old cherry tree, while I tell him my story about life, love, forgiveness and that nice guy I really like…
Just one more day and one more chance to hold him in my arms and tell him just how much I miss him…to tell him Thank You for giving me the wings to fly, to say Thank You for giving me his time, Thank You for caring and loving me!
